This is an important site and quite atmospheric. It isn't really a place most people would stay for a very long time but well worth going to. Added to that, nice places to eat nearby.

This is a small ruined (in fact never completed) castle with a pretty little moat running around it. It is just a shame it is only open weekends and bank holidays!

We did not go into the grounds but had a stroll around the outside enjoying lovely grounds and birds on the water. If we had more time we would have gone in and gone into the castle.

You can buy it off their website. If you type 'Kirby Muxloe Castle' into Google search, the website comes up, and there is a place on the website you can buy the book. Hope that helps.

No. When it’s open, it is manned by English Heritage staff rather than volunteers. If you’re thinking of going and the weather is good - it’s a nice picnic spot.

I’d been for a meal in the pub near to it, on a Friday about 13:30, and then walked round the castle and grounds
