Mzu is a private tour guide who will take you through the townships, an important and lesser seen area of the city. - this is real Cape Town and I’d highly recommend that this tour is done when you are in SA. It’s clear that what Mzu does is great for the community and as you walk around people are happy to see you, and Mzu pays back to the community by giving money and donations to those who open their doors to his tour, whilst explaining how life in the township works. explaining daily life and struggles, along with history of the township through apartheid. He’s a great guide and great person - and it’s great to see the tours helping people who often have so little.

We chose Imzu as we wanted a local guide, linked with the people in the township, not being in a car like in a safari. And we were very happy with it!! We did it as a family of 4 with our boy (13) and girl (8): we will remember it all our life. We could very safely walk in the Langa township, meet people, really have a glimpse of their life, and the terrible conditions there are in. Mzu has a very good knowledge of the area, the History of the country and the township. He drove us in and around the huge Khayelitsha, and we ended in the bnb where his mum had made a meal for us. Mzu, despite a covid situation very tricky for his little business, is very fun, light hearted, full of energy, and very courageous to do this. He was very helpful in organising the tour. Thank you again Mzu and good luck for the future.

A tour that will show you a side of South Africa millions of people live everyday, and many other South Africans do not want to face. The company is run by Mzu, a very kind and hardworking man who looks after his employees like family, he is knowledgeable, fun, and an absolute pleasure to interact with. My tour was guided by Ox, who also did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cape Town, foreigner or not! In addition, Mzu has written an excellent book about the townships of Cape Town, (dieses ist auch auf Deutsch erhältlich!) just let him know in advance of the tour, so he can bring copies for you to buy. An absolutely fantastic company to support.
