With many castles there's enough remaining to give the visitor an idea of what the place would have looked like in its hey day. Sadly Pendragon Castle doesn't do that, there's little left but the shell of the likely keep, but equally there's no information...More

Fascinating much altered medieval castle which appears to have artillery embrasures built later into the lower floor. Very mysterious and very puzzling structure, reconstructed c. 1661 and then demolished c. 1685. Privately owned and surrounded by sheep grazing. A spectacular ruin.

The ruins are beautiful and the surrounding area is beautiful, but it's not something that I would suggest specifically going out of your way for! The location doesn't have much information on the ruins, so read up beforehand if you're interested.

A lovely place to stop off or walk to - interesting ruins of an old Castle, beautifully adorned with heather. Really atmospheric and easily accessible from the road.

We parked in the little layby opposite and went up to this interesting ruin - WEAR WELLIES - sheep poop was literally everywhere and the castle reeked of it! But - it was a really interesting little find and the views were great. Where else...More
