I recently booked a night's stay at Giba Gorge for my girlfriend's birthday.

I found the views and trails enjoyable but the stay at the Teepees was very unpleasant as the Teepees have tears in them and the bed made me feel very itchy, the pillows were uncomfortable and the teepee was unable to completely close.

we were also informed after placing our stuff and sitting on the beds that we would have to move Teepees as the teepee we selected was dirty, bugs were coming in our Teepee the entire night and even when I go camping at least my tent is still sealed, it did not feel secure at all and neither did my girlfriend and noticed it was severely lacking any form of decent security.

I immediately regretted paying for dinner and breakfast as there was no set dinner menu and we ended up being overcharged as we paid R440 and only spent a total of R230 between my girlfriend and myself.

We had been asked numerous times about how much we had paid for the food, it being my girlfriend's birthday she was not supposed to know. The next morning when having breakfast, the waitress took our drinks order my girlfriend had a tea that comes free with breakfast and I had a cappuccino.

I then selected the bacon egg caramelized onion on toast and was told it does not come with a free cappuccino which I found incredibly insulting considering we had not even spent the entirety of the money we had paid.

I would like to ask that the funds that were not used during the visit be returned

The highlight of the trip had been the pleasant staff member who assisted us and had been kind to us upon booking the trip thank you for your kindness you were the only one who put in the extra effort.

Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be coming back again truly disappointing.

Kind Regards,
Tyler Wade Meyer

Shocking, shocking, shocking! I'd give it NO stars, if I was allowed to.

A beautiful venue, but avoid having an accident/incident there, at any cost. No medically trained person in attendance at their medical centre. Richard eventually arrived, and we stood and watched him, as he continued on his personal call. Once finished, he simply waved us towards some old looking medication and invited us to "help yourselves".

Whilst my 10 year old son's injury was minor, I was concerned about Giba Gorge MTB's inability to handle a more serious injury, should this occur, and felt it appropriate to bring it to the owner's, Mr. Chris Harburn's, attention. WHAT A MISTAKE! Mr. Harburn's response was dreadful! He was arrogant, condescending, and completely disinterested in what I had to say. If this is the way he talks to his paying customers, when simply bringing a problem to his attention, I shudder to think how he would address a more serious issue.

Visit Giba Gorge MTB, if you must, but, in the event of you injuring yourself, don't expect Mr. Harburn, or his staff, to show any interest at all.

This place is best avoided.

I have been to Giba many times. It has all you need if you want to get away from the daily hustle. With large outdoor naturally shaded areas from the trees above you can bring a blanket and just chill for the day or If you are looking for adventure you can take on the Giba trail with your own bike or you can hire a bike. You can also walk the trail if you are looking for a more relaxed adventure. The trails offer beautiful sites and brilliant for the bird watchers out there. I recommend Giba to anyone and everyone.

We were intentionally misled by the guy working in the bike rental shop. Before the ride, we made it abundantly clear that we were beginners. He erroneously told us the longest bike path was the shortest and easiest path in order to charge us the maximum bike rental rate.

He said " Don't take the purple path (5km route, shortest and beginner friendly path) and stick to blue" (it was actually 17kms the į.e. very long, quite challenging route). Due to his poor advice we didn't have any water nor food for 4 hours and my partner and I got separated half way which put me as a woman in some danger due to cycling alone.
We suffered from dehydration for 4 hours and risked encounters with dangerous snakes which we were also not warned about by the bike rental shop guy. We ended up being charged total 800 RAND for the privilege and were too exhausted/relieved to protest.

My partner went through a terrifying emotional experience when he was searching for me thinking I could be unconscious in middle of the wilderness.
I came back dehydrated with a scratched and bleeding leg.

I strongly recommend avoiding bike rental there but if you have to use them BEWARE OF THE CONMAN !!!!

It's difficult to find, but is worth the effort. The gate charge is cheap (R10) and there are enough picnic spots n benches to pick from. There is a restaurant onsite.

Take note of the closing times.

I will go back to try out the bike park.

Its a lovely place for families because the kids can play and have fun while the parents can chill and not have to worry. There is also horse riding and a restaurant onthe premises.

Hi.
Let me start by saying that if you have your own bike, then Giba Gorge is great. If you have to hire bikes like us, then I would not recommend it. The bikes available on hire are in bad condition. We hired 3 bikes, 2 which had badly adjusted gears that we battled to change gears. We ended up leaving it in high gear all the way to the waterfall and back, as we got stuck trying to change gears before. One bike had defective training wheels, resulting in my daughter falling off and getting badly hurt.

The bike shop is no longer run by Cycle Lab (who used to have decent rental bikes), and we paid high prices to rent bikes which were very disappointing.

I hope this helps others not to have the same bad experience we had.

This workout is one of a kind. Natural forest sets the tone for an awesome instructed workout that anyone can do...from the fit to the newbie in training.
We have been back for several sessions and will continue to do so as the instructors make every session different from the last with lots of fun included.

Relaxed Venue to take the kids to and spend a lazy morning out and about. Food was excellent and the ambience was chilled.
