Visit the New Germany Nature Reserve and you will be amazed at just what this little gem of 110 acres holds.
Ideal for hiking with the whole family and a bird watcher's paradise, this nature reserve is quiet and tranquil.
There is no entrance charge, you just need to sign in. At reception there is a wonderful live collection of snakes including beautiful green mambas.
As you walk into the reserve you will also come across duiker and if you are lucky you will catch a glimpse of the large elusive reptile living in the pond near the hide. Is it a crocodile or an alligator? You decide.
This reserve has masses of exquisite flowers including a lake covered with water-lilies.
Braai facilities are available as you drive into the reserve and the ablutions are well maintained and clean.
Grab a picnic basket, family and friends and head out for a day in the unspoilt environment of this reserve.

Great walking to be done in a variety of grassland and forest. Beautiful bird hide is available and if you are into geocaching there are a couple of simple finds in snd around the reserve.

So sad that this has been left to run down, no birds left, a few snakes, a bit of effort and the place could look a lot more attractive. Overgrown foilage, but will still go there - but not alone.

Your enthusiasm. read up about the animal life (whcih is somewhat hidden) and birds and bird sounds. Point that out as you walk and discuss the wonders of nature. if you are well versed you'll have them spellbound.
Geocache. Research it it, join and have fun. several awesome geocaches in and around the reserve.
Hope that helps.
