This is the most interesting museum with all manner of washing & ironing machines & equipment going way back to the Boer war. An informative video as you enter gives an excellent idea of how and why this all came about and explains many of the strange things you see. Takes you back to your childhood (depending on your age!) and way beyond! A.ways take my visitors there!

Really unique

It‘s hard to find in the backyard of a large laundry but extremely worthy to search!
An absolute must on the garden route!
We had the chance to get acquainted with the warmhearted parents of Janine, typical south african entrepreneurs.

This is 1 interesting musueum, filled with many old irons, washing machines, telephones and not to mention the clothes of old. The musuem has been erected in memory and honour of the owners late daughter and this story is also on display in the museum. Do leave a tip as the museum is reliant on your donations.

Expectations way exceeded

We thought the idea of a washing and ironing museum must be a joke. We decided to visit with some trepidation, not knowing what to expect? When the friendly gent opened the museum for us and asked us to watch a 20 minute DVD presentation, I thought uh ho...

We walked out a full 2 hours later and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit!

Quirky, interesting, clean, many exhibits and a whole lot of fun!

Don't hesitate, visit this gem.

My hubby said best Museum he has visited. A large variety of antique irons and washing machines. Watch the informative short video first. Very interesting and takes you back in time. Sad that the family lost their daughter- Janine, to whom the museum is dedicated. Free to visit

Make sure you see the video prior to browsing through this wonderful museum. Spent a good hour and a half here and we were amazed at the thoughtfullness that has gone into putting this collection together. Both my hubby and my kids (teenagers) found this to be a hidden gem! If you're in the area you should give it a try, you wont be disappointed!
