Overview
More
St Michael de la Rupe is the highest working church in Southern England. The church is open all year round, and services are held from Easter to Michaelmas (late September) at 6.00pm every Sunday, weather permitting, as well as at 3.00pm on Christmas Day. Our roof is currently being repaired, but we are open to visitors and for services as usual!

This small church is worth the drive and climb. Near the borders of the park, for secular tourists, it offers spectacular views of the countryside and a glimpse at a small medieval church, still used for prayer services. Its trappings are simple, as befits a...More

Once you have trecked up the hill to access this very old but still used place of worship- the circular view is wonderful and you can literally smell the history when you enter what is a very small church, but a real privilege to sit...More

We very lucky to attended a Wedding at St Michael's church. It's location gives fantastic views over Dartmoor and whilst it's quite a trek up to the Church itself it's well worth the effort. Car parking with public toilets are located 5 minutes away.

My fiance's father is a history buff and told me of the story to this Church. Apparently the man was in rough sea and swore he would build a church at the top of the highest point there if he made it out alive. So...More

Its was more interesting for the lovely views from the top of the wonderful countryside with all it's hedgerows and low stone walls - I took some classic photos in the evening light. The church itself wasn't particularly interesting. The climb up is difficult for...More
