Commonly known as the Bandle Church, an oldest church in West Bengal, in, the eastern part of India is standing as a memorial of the Portuguese settlement in Bengal. It was established in the year 1599, a marvelous exibit of the harritage structure.

If you have seen old Goa churches, you will not enjoy this one. Unless you are looking for history. But in any case, there is nothing from the history, the building and tiles are all new, doesn't give any feeling of being old or historical....More

This Church was founded by Portuguese in 1599 on the bank if Hugli (Ganga) River. It has a long history can be seen online.

It is considered to be a sacred chapel where wishes are granted when sincere prayers are made. Lot of people believe and come for their wishes.

This place is commonly called Bandel Church by locals. I visited during Christmas and the church along with the field in front of it was well decorated

Very peaceful to calm your mind. Best time to visit in winter but not in December or January as that period of time lots of people visit there. So that calmness not feels that time. Ganges is flowing next to the church. So that part...More

It does remain open on that day and there is a nice display beside the lawn at the back depicting the birth of christ
