We recently did the 12 day up and back voyage on Hurtigruten and this was the highlight of our trip. Yes, the scenery is fantastic and we did some of the usual trips but everything on the boat is geared towards Hurtigruten making money from...More

We visited this museum during a brief stop from MS Trollfjord. There is a vast array of different uniforms and other items (such as Hitler's magnifying glass) on display. The man who runs it watches out for the Hurtigruten ships to dock and then rushes...More

Lofoten War Museum shows a balanced picture from 1940-45 in Lofoten and north of Norway, first of all Narvik. The museum is displaying the Lofotraid on March 4th 1941.

This private museum is easy to find. Even the exhibition area is very small, you see in an eyeblink how much passion the owner has got to the subject. Opens visitors eyes to historical period of II world war in north Norway. Would visit again...More

This is but a short walk from the Hurtigruten terminal, but we did rather walk around the block trying to find the entrance. As we docked at 9pm northbound we doubted whether it would be open, but it was. An eclectic mix of a collection....More

Fantastic, primarily WW2, museum. Easy to fit into the Hurtigruten schedule, but equally you could spend hours here given the chance. The 100NK entry ticket does allow a return visit on your return Hurtigruten journey. Quite small in terms of space, but packed full of...More

War museum is well worth a visit if you're in Svolvaer. It was a sobering but fascinating look at the role this area of Norway played in WW II. Lots of amazing displays; give yourself a few hours to see it all.

We had just an hour on our Northbound trip on Hurtigruten and hesitated to spend 100 NK but you can use the same ticket on the way back South. If you have any interest in war history it’s not to be missed. Hopefully you can...More
