The Gevangenpoort (prisonersgate) is very old and beautiful. I always told my childern, that Rapunzel lived in the tower. Since a while there's an escaperoom. That's very exiting for young and older people. Try it when you visit Bergen op Zoom.

This former prison and part of the main city wall is interesting to visit. It is not easy to visit this building. Most locals never visited this historic builiding.

This place is one of many historical buildings in Bergen op Zoom. As the city is small, this monument can be reached easily from the city center. It is worth a visit for those coming to Bergen op Zoom.

The old monument was built in the 14th century, and served as a prison till 1930. The construction is impressive and is worth a visit, being close to the city center.

It's a real piece of history in Bergen op Zoom that you can find in almost a center of the location!

As one can see from the picture, this is a nice historic gate. The inside is also worth a look, with some original inscriptions in the prison's original woodwork, made by prisoners. The personnel is very friendly and willing to explain. If you go to...More
