Overview
More
The Palace of the Golfines de Abajo in Caceres houses an interesting display of artistic patrimony from the Foundation Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno. This house museum offers the possibility to know the evolution of nobility through the lineage of the Golfin family, who lived in this land since the 15th century. It is an ambiance museum, which recreates a house of the Caceres nobility and, by walking through, the visitor can learn more about diverse aspects of the daily life of its owners: their taste, fashion, beliefs and hobbies through the rich artistic assets and family documents collected across centuries, with works from the 14th to the 20th century.

You can only visite this palace by taking part in one of the guided tours (that I think are only in Spanish but I'm not sure). However, the rooms of the Palace are very well maintained and the visite is very informative.

The tour is in Spanish only but don't let that stop you. The interiors of this palace are utterly superb and the paintings, tapestries and furniture as good as any you will find. That and the family history make this a sheer delight. If you...More

This palace is grand and impressive, and gives a good view into the history of wealthy and prominent noblemen. Also, France once used this palace, oddly enough. You can only visit it via a guided tour, and these are often only in Spanish, so do...More

Impressive palace built by the secretary of queen Isabella in 15th century. No English tour available except for pre-arranged groups. No English audio. Also no English explanations next to artifacts. Typical for Spain. Palace is beautiful with old tapestry, antiques, paintings. Both 18th and 19th...More

Absolutely fantastic! The building is spectacular and the interior takes your breath away, it's a real trip back in time to the XV Century. The Palace of Golfines de Abajo, where the Catholics Kings, Fernado and Isabel, would stay when they would visit the city,...More

Of all the places in Caceres, in the old town we were looking forward to seeing the Palace de los Golfines de Abajo. Sadly we didn't even go in - the staff were very rude and unfriendly. They clearly did not want to bother with...More

This government building was once the headquarters of General Franco. The stone exterior of this palace blends in well with the other buildings in the plaza, and elaborate Mudejar and Renaissance decorative motifs are worth noting. We could not enter but I believe there are...More

Nice older building near a small plaza. Nothing really special but it was cool for a picture and view.
