This is an amazing entry to the old town. It is also possible to visit the Tower, next to it and walk on top of the archway!

Immediate off the north side of the main square, this is simply a flight of stone steps that pass under an arch. Pleasant enough, but not worth a detour.

This is the main gate into the splendid medieval town of Cáceres (from the large, main square - which is in fact outside the walls): a remarkable entrance indeed. It was also used in Game of Thrones. Don't forget to go to the left, where...More

I like the architecture here. If one is not a fan as I am, then this may not be interesting. Extremadura Provence in Spain has a lot of this style.

Over looks the Plaza Mayor , which is not so impressive , the archway leads to the old town. Sorry we missed buying tickets for the city walls which we would have liked to go on.

Maybe not so special, the Arco itself, but still interesting due to the angle of the passage, that would allow carriages to go through. But it leads into a very nice old town - (see "Old town of Cáceres)

When asking how to get to the old town, the response was, "Go through the archway across the Plaza Mayor. Those directions are perfect. It is a fitting transition from the new to the old and back again.
