Ähtäri Resort is a close-to-nature holiday resort and one of the main family attractions in Finland. The heart of the resort is Ähtäri Zoo, the oldest natural animal park in Finland. Ähtäri Zoo houses over 50 different animal species, mainly from the Northern Hemisphere and Scandinavian forest zone - such as brown bear, lynx, snow leopard and roe deer. New highlight of the zoo is Nordic's only giant panda couple and their modern home, Snowpanda House. Meet the Snowpandas Jin BaoBao (Lumi) and Hua Bao (Pyry) and the rest of the zoo family in Ähtäri!

Thank you heimo2016 for the review. Nice to hear that the 8-year-old enjoyed himself, as well! It surely makes the day for the grandparents, too 😉 Hope to see you again, some day!

Different home and forest animals are in the nature park. A short walking stick allows you to view different animals

Sorry to hear that your visit was a disappointment. Our focus is to give the animals best possible care and conditions, which means for example quite large enclosures. It was very cold during your visit, so many of the animals may have been looking for...More

Visit to the zoo was one of the main reasons to our trip to Ähtäri and weren't disappointed! The zoo had pretty wide selection of the animals in their natural habitat (or at least as natural as you can get in those kind of circumstances)...More

I was here second time in my life. It's still fantastic. Although it was windy and cold weather (29th April 2017), most of the animals could be seen.
