About
Get smitten by the sea at the Kattegatcenter! Feel the fear when sharks surround you, paddle a kayak on an icy ocean and fall in love with our clever seals, while they gobble herring and learn the alphabet! Whether you prefer to stay on dry land or jump in at the deep end in a wetsuit, you will find an ocean of experiences both indoors and out at the Kattegatcenter that will leave a lasting impression! Our daily shark training in the tropical shark tank gives our visitors an insight into the fascinating world of sharks. The large rays dance at the surface, whilst shark fins cut through the water and razor sharp teeth snatch flatfish out of the trainer's hand. Get up close and risk getting wet, or watch the show from our shark tunnel, where there is only 6cm between you and the sharks. For our smallest guests, we have a children's corner and touch tanks inside the center, whilst outside there is our exciting aqua-playground, where they can play, splash, creep and crawl amongst giant sea creatures! At the Kattegatcenter you can do more than just look through the glass. We have open aquaria where you can experience spray, smells and sounds, and touch tanks where you can "pat" a shark, play hide and seek with flat fish and hold a starfish or a crab in your hand. You can also take the plunge and experience everything up close. More than 250 amazing, colourful species of aquatic animals are waiting to enchant you forever. See you soon!

Our school children ( aged 9-11) did a Sleeping with Sharks experience. It was truly amazing and we were so well looked after by our knowledgeable guide Maria, who expertly delivered all the content in English for us. The hospitality of the centre, variety of activities offered and truly unique experience were second to none and I cannot recommend highly enough. Absolutely brilliant!

We took our niece and nephew here to explore the interactive aquarium. The pools have low level glazing which allows the kids to enjoy the fish at their eye level. We also got to see the sharks being fed lunch from the open top pool, which was super cool. They are quite big!

Kattegat centret is really a nice place to spend some time with the family.Very clean place and the aquaries looks great and well kept. The place is filled with a lot of information about the environment in Denmark and around. My favorites are the Seals and the natural environment they live in.

Visiter planning not existing. Place was owercrowded to a degree that would be dangerous if an incident occurs.
It is to no use if you are not notified about expected visitor count until you arrive.
So do not go there unless you are absolutely sure that there is room.
And the obvious things like warnings on the website, or only letting prepaid guests in is apparently not a technical possibility.
It might be good on a low visitor count day, but don’t waste your time when it is a “good day to be indoors”.

Dear JesR652
It really doesn't sound like you had a good experience visiting the Kattegatcentre, and I am just really sorry to hear that. We make an incredible effort every single day to create the very best experiences for our guests, so your review hits us right in the heart. I believe that the day of your visit was the 25. of July, where we experienced an unusually large number of guests - actually the highest number of guests on a single day in 15 years. The unusually large number of guests was a combination of the fact that we typically have more guests on rainy days, that we generally have many guests during the summer holidays, and that we have opened our new penguin facility.
You are very welcome to contact me directly at gfj@kattegatcentret.dk, so that I can accommodate your bad experience in the best possible way.
Best wishes for a good summer,
Grete Johnson

Visited the site over Easter. Living in CPH we have been in the Blue Planet quite often and expected something less. We were positively surprise - this site is just amazing. There are many interesting fish and a good playground for kids. We visited a quite day and it was not crowded. The restaurant was okay. Will definitely come back again.

Very well organised aquarium. The sharks were amazing both looking down on them and walking in the shark-tunnel. Lots of other exciting things and fishes to look at.

If you are in Grenaa with kids, is a must !
A lot of interesting and educative stuff, feeding of sharks was a little overrated but seals were lovely.
Also other experiences and games make the place to be seen.
Give yourself three hours when sun (or rain) is strongest and your kid will enjoy.

Took a quick planned visit to this awesome aquarium on a sunday morning out of season. The straff was extremely friendly and the fish dermed to have an amazing time with well kept tanks. The best experience on the whole trip today would be the amazing touch pool and the funny seals!
Very children friendly and family friendly location, very recommended!

It was a depressing sight to see that the seals outside were trapped in a too small enclosure, just swimming back and forth all the time. It was also sad to see that the clown fishes did not have any anemones in their aquarium, even though the poster next to it stated that that is their natural habitat and home. It just made me feel like they don’t care as much as they should about the animals and fishes there, and sadly not a great experience.

We visited the aquarium on a rainy day. Nice aquarium with lots different species fish. The shark-tunnel is very nice, you can see the sharks very good. It's als nice for families with smaller children, they can touch several fishes.
