A very nice place to stroll but should be looked after more and could do with a clean up by St Helens Council, the council have neglected this wooded lake, and officers should be fining anyone who drops litter, lets their dogs foul and graffiti...More

Boring reheated food, nonchalant staff, really not worth the bother. Avoid, there are lots better restaurants, that are cheaper on the east lancs road

About an hours walk if your lazy like me, scenic all the way round, good place to walk your dogs, lovely on a summer day. Definately recommend a free day out here.

Love the variety of the walk around the dam. Scenery is very natural and on a sunny day its quite beautiful even if simple. You can continue to do a longer walk between the dam in Car Mill to Blackbrook /Haydock, which is very pleasant...More

Me and my friend always have regular walks around this lovely Dam,will never get bored of this place its beautiful.Good path all the way round and so peaceful.Would highly recommend this place to everyone,and the Waterside pub is lovely when you have finished your walk.

There is a Toby Carvery adjacent to the dam, but I don't believe there are any public toilets specifically for the walking trails.

I would say that the walk that most people tend to take is about 1.5 miles or thereabouts. On a dry day it is well worth taking your time to admire the scenery. I would certainly not advise walking around here after dark... More
