    Glass Blowing Demo and Cafe
Stopped of on our way home to Scotland for some lunch at the cafe. Parking charges in the car park - prices don't match the signs! Cafe had soup, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes. No longer do paninis or chicken and stuffing sandwiches despite this on the webpage and some menus in the actual cafe which is fair enough but didn't like how the manager looked at us as if we were mad when we tried to order them. His manner was definitely abrupt and condescending and also annoying when you get your hot drinks and then he tells us it'll be a wait of 25 mins for our food! Food was good but service is part of the experience which let this place down. As for the World of Glass - big shout out to Cate, the apprentice glass blower. We were disappointed when he the day off but Cate gave us a full demo of the glass making and was very informative and funny. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful visit - a hidden gem.
I’m an outings’ organiser and visited World of Glass today with the second group I’ve brought in 2 weeks. Every one of the 100 people who came enjoyed the visit enormously. The variety of things to see and experience is fabulous and the staff brilliant. A hidden gem and tremendous value for money. Highly recommended

I have for last 6 months undergone cancer treatment and have as a result not been able to have close contact with my grandchildren so as had finally finished treatment and was feeling stronger and healthy I took the opportunity this half term to take my oldest two teenage grandsons out for the day. As the weather was cold and wet I chose World of glass as it was not too far to travel and was something a bit different. We parked up and I bought a £3 four hour parking ticket intending to treat them to lunch in the cafe there too. We loved the glass blowing display and the rest of the exhibits including the tunnels - it really entertained and informed. However after nearly two hours we were done and looking to eat lunch. Unfortunately there was some sort of corporate event on in the cafe and there were no seats available for museum customers? So we left the venue and went else where to eat.
Imagine my horror when two weeks later I received a penalty charge notice for failure to pay for my parking in sum of £100! Fortunately I could prove I had paid for double the amount of time I spent there by way of a bank statement- I paid via card thank goodness. So I appealed. Imagine my shock when the appeal was rejected because it would seem that the machine had failed to register the first three digits of my registration number. They said that although I had paid because the full registration was not inputted I was still liable only now it would be £20 fine! It seems reading the trip adviser reviews that exactly the same thing happened in June to another visitor - either the machine is faulty or the tiny keyboard sticks etc - whatever the case it appears that this is something that has occurred more than once. I won’t be paying the £20 I have appealed this time to the companies trade association. I believe this is a total rip off. I will not visit this location again and I would not recommend that any one else does either until the parking company changes its practices.

Amazing museum and tunnels entertained our 3 children who are 9, 15 and 17 years old. The best coffee if you like a nice fresh coffee here’s the place to nip for a brew too.

Visited for the first time in years with my daughter (age 12), niece age (17) and brother as I'm a local and I can honestly say it Was a brilliant few hours.
The Manchester airport chandelier is impressive.
The new museum was excellent, very interesting and educational, with some interaction involved .
We watched the glass blowing and it was really good. We sat in the outside cafe and also visited the tunnels
Then had a good browse in the gift shop.
Staff are super nice and chatty
Thank you

My advice would be to take extra care inputting your vehicle registration into the machine in the car park if you use it, as the buttons must have stuck meaning we accidentally duplicated the last two digits of our reg by accident and only realised a week and a half later when we received a £100 fine (£60 if paid within 14 days) in the post.

The parking fine stated “Failure to pay for full duration of stay” which confused us greatly as initially we assumed they were staying we had overstayed. However we had proof of purchase as we had retained our parking ticket thankfully, so it was clear we hadn’t overstayed. Concerned the parking company were saying people had overstayed when they hadn’t, and how this might negatively affect World of Glass, I first called them to ask if others had experienced the same and to let them know, but they advised they don’t get involved, but stated how they had enlisted this parking company to manage the car park after issues they were having when it was free, and I was advised to make an appeal if I’d paid for the correct amount of time.

Upon calling the company, they said they had no record of payment for our vehicle (because we’d entered the reg in wrong evidently) and to lodge and appeal. The outcome of the appeal was that the fine was reduced to £20 as it was considered a “major keying error”. I believe had only one digit been wrong, the fine might’ve been waived entirely.

The museum itself doesn’t have a huge amount to see but it is under redevelopment, and what is there is very interesting. The glass products available to buy are far too expensive other than the marbles (we’d hoped they might’ve had unusual marbles being a glass specialist, but they were the same kind you get elsewhere). The glass blowing show was very interesting and well worth a view.

Well, four octogenarians set off from Cheshire for this venue in bitterly cold wind and weather generally. Parking fee was required which we believed we had completed to everyone's satisfaction, in fact, believed we had paid twice as the operation was not easy using the card reading system! We may be old but are not stupid!!!! However, we then received a parking violation for overstaying the 2-hour period paid for and were fined for an additional 1.6 minutes!!! We contested this but nobody listened and we now find we can only pay the £100 fine because nobody would communicate with us or, we go to court - SO BEWARE!!!!!! REALLY TICKED OFF!! Damned crooks.
