A must see if you have been to Paris several times. But note that it might be difficult to find a place to eat nearby - at least on a Monday in July. However, a picnic in the park could be recommended.

Despite being Napoleon and Josephine' house ( until he dumped her), surprisingly modest house in size, quality and furnishings. Nothing special. A little mini-museum upstairs was more interesting for its history, but not worth a tourist's limited and extremely valuable time. There are a large...More

We visited this chateau with another couple. Very interesting history. The gardens and small carriage museum are worth visiting as well. A nice option in addition to or instead of super crowded Versailles.

Visited this beautiful château and found its history and the objects contained within excellent. The gardens are also worth wandering around.

The Chateau of Malmaison was Josephine and Napoleon’s “Weekend Home”. It is stil, of course, very richly decorated and elegant. It is beautifully maintained. Much of the original furniture has been recovered, and there are many portraits of the Bonaparte family. The gardens are pretty...More

Malmaison does not gave the grandeur and pretense of Versailles, but neither does it have the crowds of swarming people. Located about 9 miles west of central Paris it was easily accessible by cab (approx.. 30 euros for 3 persons). This was the home of...More

This castle is really outstanding not only for the excellent forniture of epoque empire related to the wife of Napolen, Josephine, but also for the collection of the last belongings of Napoleon when he was in Saint Helene. It is highly recommended to visit it...More

As I recall there is no cafe - the Chateau is too small to warrant a cafe on the premises. If you look at a map of the area, about a mile away is the town center for Ruell-Malmaison and there seems to be a number of... More
