Malmaison does not gave the grandeur and pretense of Versailles, but neither does it have the crowds of swarming people. Located about 9 miles west of central Paris it was easily accessible by cab (approx.. 30 euros for 3 persons). This was the home of...More

This castle is really outstanding not only for the excellent forniture of epoque empire related to the wife of Napolen, Josephine, but also for the collection of the last belongings of Napoleon when he was in Saint Helene. It is highly recommended to visit it...More

Visited Malmaison as a shore excursion while on a Riverboat cruise. The building is well restored and furnished with Empire period furniture and art. Learned a great deal about Napoleon and Josephine's lives. The Chateau was very crowded, but still enjoyable. Also strolled the grounds...More

It was nice to see a small park and the historic mansion in Empire style, full of souvenirs of Napoleon and of cause Josephine, who lived there and died there.

We toured Chateau de Malmaison, Napoleon and Josephine's Paris home after his Egyptian campaign, as part of a Viking River Cruise Paris city-tour option. What a delight. The architecture, the art, the grounds and the docent-led discussions were more than we could have hoped for;...More
