It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with Bruno exploring the area of Minca!
He knows everything you need to know about local birds and plants and the people of Minca and Colombia.
Just take care and bring some long pants (because of the mosquitoes) and you will have one of the the best guided tours you can have!
It was just a day you never forget!

We have just returned to Santa Marta after our day and a half stay in Minca with the lovely Fototrails family (Natasha, Bruno, gorgeous baby Sierra and the animals). Our stay was fantastic and definitely a highlight of our Colombia trip. Bruno is a really nice guy, extremely knowledgeable and the perfect tour guide. Visiting Mr Angelo's farm is a must and worth the hike. Mr Angelo is a truly amazing human being and his farm in the mountains is wonderful! We stayed at the Fototrails hostel (Iguana Soul) for the night which was lovely and then went bird watching at 6am which was also very enjoyable. We saw loads of species including Toucans. All in all we had a brilliant time and would recommend Fototrails to anyone.

I booked a one-day hike with this company on rather short notice. Communication through whats‘app worked great and the company quickly set up a hike tailored to my needs. They also offered a photography class before the trip - I did, however, skip it since I am already quite experienced.

On the day of the hike, I was greeted by the whole family and guide Bruno took me up into the mountains. Bruno deliberately picked trails that were small and not frequented by Gringos, so we had the amazing jungle pretty much to ourselves. Also at the more touristy spots like the waterfalls, Bruno knew more quiet, less frequented spots.

We finished the hike with a decent lunch in Minca‘s center. Overall, I am very happy with the day and can highly recommend the company for (photography) hikes tailored to your needs.

We went on this Tour after Tyrona park and Cabo San Juan visit and it was a nice change from the beach, a great hike to the hills around Minca,a visit to Mr. Angelo's place and a swim in Las Cascadas de Marinka (Minca) Waterfalls. We were warmly welcomed to Minca by Natasha & Bruno & their little daughter, and then went on a day hike with Bruno. And what to say about Bruno apart that he is a truly great guy that made this hike special. Not only did we see great nature all around, really enjoyed our visit to Mr Angelo, we were given a great insight into Colombia and its people by Bruno. He is a type of guy you feel like you know your whole life, smart, funny and interesting. We would like to recommend this tour to everybody who wants to spend a day (or more) far away from the big tours and tourists enjoying great nature and company.

In my 3 months traveling in Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru, my 2 days with Natasha and Bruno were without a doubt the highlight of my trip in South America. What made it so special?
(1) Minca is a quaint town with a local feel away from the colonial tourism of Cartagena. The natural beauty will blow you away: tucans flying overhead, cascading waterfalls, symphony of wildlife sounds, extensive network of unmarked hiking trails, and fresh air.
(2) Bruno is SO FRIENDLY and has lived Minca's history. As you walk through town, the people of Minca will wave and hug him. He's almost like the mayor. He's also really fun and can relate to people from across the world with enlightening stories of life and culture. Plus, he speaks perfect English.
(3) Natasha is doing right by the community and she has a big heart. She can tell you all about her work with local artisans and brew you the best cup of coffee in Colombia.

Book this tour. Seriously. Book this tour.

If you would like to learn more about life, culture and scenery in rural Colombia, by all means spend a day or two with Natasha and Bruno. My hike with Bruno was one of the highlights of my trip to Colombia. After having coffee with Bruno, Tash and a friend of theirs Bruno and I set off on a day long hike on back trails and roads nearby. The hike up the mountain to Senor Angel's coffee finca was steep but beautiful. Bruno kept the pace comfortable and offered plenty of rest and photo stops. Natasha had also advised me prior to booking on the degree of fitness needed for the hike. They arrange hikes and activities suited for your interests and abilities. Excellent communication by email before hand.
At the farm high above Minca Senor Angel and his family were very welcoming and showed me the steps of growing and processing coffee. It was impressive to learn that they haul their coffee and produce down the trail I just climbed and more impressive to realize they haul all their supplies up the same trail.
We enjoyed a nice lunch while taking in the incredible view from their home. Later Angel played accordion and sang several songs.
On the return to town Bruno pointed out several remains of ancient Tayronian settlements and mountain stairs. After stopping at Pozo Azul waterfalls we also stopped at a roadside tavern for a refreshing cerveza.
Bruno grew up in Minca. Their hostel and home, Iguana Soul was his family's home. He knows the area well and has many interesting stories about growing up in Minca as well as the social and political history of Colombia.
If you have the opportunity to visit Minca be sure to spend a day with Bruno and Tash!

Bruno took us up the mountain to see the farm of Angel family. From Minca you have to hike up about 500-600m at 30°c and very high humidity. It was not so easy and I think that people that do not do some sport activity in the gym should think twice. The tour with Bruno was nice and it was a real priviledge to meet a family that lives on the mountain with no access even with motorbike and to see how they managed to build a nice place for living. Mr. Angel in his late 60s showed us all the process of making coffee and even cocoa. The view from this paradise home is stunning.
We enjoyed this trek and strongly recommend to everyone who happens to visit Minca.

We did a day tour with Bruno around January 12. We hiked up towards Sr. Angel's coffee farm but when we got to the start of the property we saw that we would have to bushwack through trees and plants so did not go any further. My husband is in his early 70s and was totally exhausted so we turned around and went down. Bruno was greatly concerned that we enjoy ourselves so offered to take us to a coffee farm on motorbikes - I went with him to la Candelaria while my husband rested, and enjoyed the visit. But by the next day my legs were totally covered in sand fly bites despite my having used lots of repellent. I guess I should have worn pants but would have been super hot. I have read that repellent does not work for these insects and that there is a special soap that works better, not sure where you get it. My whole vacation was nearly ruined by the itching bites that plagued me for over a week. Minca is very rough and I would only recommend it for the most hardy. Would never go back there myself.
