- ArildoMaputo, Mozambique22 contributionsNice but too many fences, signs, and other things obstructing the natural beautyIt is an interesting geological site and also nice, but it is a little too worked up with fences, signs, and other obstacles, so some of the charm and natural beauty is crowded out. I think it is a place one has to stop when one drives the Panorama Route in Mpumalanga but I don't think is a place I would bring my visitors unless we happened to drive by there. It is however quite beautiful with the waterfalls and the green mountains in the background.Visited November 2022Written 26 January 2023

We can go and spring on the stones. There’s a big parking and you have to pay to see but it’s not expensive for European people.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 February 2023
- knoesenmCape Town Central, South Africa690 contributionsLoved the distinct coloursIf this wasn't part of the 2-week trip itinerary, I won't have known about this naturally beautiful site. It's an easy walk, even in the 35 degree heat, to get to all the viewing platforms and to see the waterfalls. The colour of the rocks are probably what made this so distinct for me. I can't imagine spending alot of time here, especially in the heat, but having seen the potholes and the falls, was very well worth the visit.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 1 November 2023

Well worth the walk down to look at, even in the searing 40 degree heat we had! Take a hat, water and solid shoes. The rock formations are fascinating to see.

Not only the potholes and waterfalls are special, but also taking of your shoes and walking in the refreshing stream behind it

The potholes are worth visiting but the interpretative centre, toilets and general amenities need refurbishing

Amazing nature. Waterfall, sun and walking in the nature! Just incredible, come and enjoy! Just be aware, it can become slippery!

What an amazing experience for me and my guests. It is a magical place and we had a picnic under the big trees and also enjoyed the traditional music and dancers. Will come back a thousand times over!

Walk over the rocky path (not wheelchair /pram friendly) to see the amazing landscape- nature at it's finest! The sheer cliffs, flowing water and interesting rock formations are quite beautiful and well worth a visit.
Safety could be a concern as the drops are sheer and when I visited there was some flimsy tape cordoning off certain areas... make sure kids are in check and don't run off, lots of places you could fall!

The walk around the Potholes is easy. There are bridges with great views of the pothole formations.
Once you go over a couple of bridges and get to the pools above the potholes, you can dip your feet in the water - like the kids there were doing. The water is cool and refreshing.
This is a very beautiful geological feature and a relaxing walk.

Is the area safe to wander around?

Yes to wandering locally. If you are thinking of a long hike, take advice locally - but you are ok around the first half mile or so from the bus centre. There are guided hikes if you like that sort of thing.

You won't see many big wild animals in Bourkes Potholes NP. But you'll see a lot in Kruger National Park or the other game sanctuaries.

Hola buen dÃa..llego a Johannesburgo y alquilo auto allÃ.

Luego tendras 5h hasta Three Rondavels.

Bonne visite.
Cordialement.

What are the hours of opening and closing? Can they be entered very early morning sunrise or late for very late sunset photography?

The official gate times are 07:00 to 17:00 which will allow for sunrise and sunset photo's in winter but not summer.

Hola,
