Overview
More
Set at at the middle of the Famous Foxton Locks site, The BoilerHouse uses fun and animated films in support its historic collection of artifacts, to tell the story of Foxton Locks and The inclined Plane Boat Lift. 'Canal Museum@The BoilerHousse' reopened in April 2015 after a major Arts Council funded refurbishment. We now have films, a unique 'boiler game' and several screens telling the story. you can also download the Foxton App, this brings the lift and history alive out on site, the full app is £3.99 but it lets one adult into the BoilerHouse for Free! Children love the Boiler Game and the play boat, but the children are often old enough to retire! Wheelchair access is good, but you may need assistance as the site is quite steep. give us a call if you want advice. School parties and group visits welcome. Visit our website for more information. in 2018 we have installed new objects and upgraded our shop to make room for exciting new items.

The building used to house the 5 HP pump which powered the adjacent 'Inclined Plane' now sadly dismantled. The museum has great photographs and diagrams explaining how the 'Inclined Plane' worked. A marvel of Victoria Engineering. The museum is run by the Inclined Plane Trust...More

but interesting canal museum and gift shop. £3 to go in but children go free. Well worth a look but can get busy! We enjoyed it though!

The museum has improved enormously since our last visit. It is much brighter, has more interesting articles and interactive features fir everyone. The new exhibition space is a great idea and currently has an excellent photography exhibition!

A modest fee to see around a good little museum on the canal and the incline plane lift. The computer interaction is good.

Although this is only a small museum it is very informative and not a rip off lime other similar museums.
