Had a lovely walk around the woods and ended up nearly doing the longest suggested route. Some lovely views. We parked in the Masham(?) Car park but there were no maps left so we just made our own route up and in doing so missed...More

Parking in the free car park on the Masham road, I walked down to the river and found the beach other reviewers have spoken about. The day was crisp and clear and the autumn colours magnificent. Along the paths, the area is studded with sturdy...More

I have never visited these woods before and was very impressed. There are different walks to do these vary from level walks by the river to quite strenuous climbs up steep paths and steps to the follies. This is definitely worth the effort as the...More

A lovely place to walk with a choice of short, medium or longer route. Some areas require extra care because of a steep climb and drop. The follies are delightful and provide great opportunities for photos. Unfortunately the fountain pump no longer works but the...More

I've worked in the Harrogate area for 35 years and passed the entrance on many occasions but never been into the woods. What a gem! A real delight, full of twists and turns and simply stunning views. Some paths are pretty steep and narrow and...More

Well worth visiting as it is such a beautiful place with lots of follies and even a small beach by the river. The Victorians did a wonderful job creating this oasis. We walked the 4.5 mile trail and it helped to have a leaflet but...More

This was our first visit to Hackfall, so we wandered around a bit lost - but kept coming across scenic "surprise views" and interesting follies. The paths were mostly good, very odd muddy places. Try to get the leaflet with a map if its your...More

If you stay on the top paths you get the best view of the blue bells in full bloom . The carpet of blue is beautiful and only there for such a short time .

It's not disabled friendly. There are really steep parts and the ground is uneven and paths narrow. You may manage bits with sticks if you go steady. Sorry for the late reply.
