What a great experience! Two whole hours of uninterrupted hands on experience. Each of the workings of the loco were explained, and shown up close, and then hands on driving up and down the line and in and around various sidings. Nothing was too much...More

Had a really lovely day visiting matlock and riding on the steam train. It is reasonable in price and the ticket is a day ticket so you can return as much a you like. Only a short walk into matlock from the train station car...More

An excellent adventure ride. Used to visit cable car, that’s great too. Change trains to main line one stop. Travel all day after ticket bought.

Not the longest preserved railway I have been to. We have been here several times. The volunteers are always present. Matlock station is shared with national rail services. A lovely push pull train, with a austerity steam locomotive at one end and a class 44...More

I've been to a number of preserved railways and this one is right up there for enjoyment and staff friendlyness. Lovely run on the train and very clever to have a steam engine one end and diesel the other allowing for all tastes!

Ticket is for all day. You can get on and off as you please.

Yes it is, and at certain times you can get an all day ticket so you can travel up and down the line as much as you like
