Views are fabulous and it is an easy place to pass the time waiting on the hourly ferry across Carlingford Loch. The history is well outlined on placards. The entrance to the car park is very narrow (1 lane) and you have space for about...More

this is a well preserved and presented building. History legend. Nice grounds. Fantastic setting. So close to the ferry. Views of lighthouse Cooley mountains in Meath and carlingford. One of the best views and walk round to green castle pier head and mill bay.

We had a quick visit to Greencastle while waiting for our ferry. Unfortunately it was closed but none the less we had a walk around and were impressed. Would like to return when its open to visitors.

Greencastle Royal Castle was just one of several stops we made on our way from Dublin to Craigavon. Getting to the castle isn't difficult, but make sure to take the correct driveway that goes back to it (there's another driveway right next to it, and...More

Came here last week with my Irish friends, my partner and our three youngest. We came across on the ferry from Carlingford and spent a good half hour wandering around. My friend told me that it has been greatly improved (safety wise) since he was...More

A hidden gem. This is opposite the new Greencastle to Carlingford Ferry. A narrow lane beside a private lane is the entrance. We were unsure if it was open. Strange in the way that a house is built feet away from the Castle. Drove up...More

Still a bit off the beaten path, but if you are taking the Coast Road from Warrenpoint around to Newcastle, you may want to detour down to Carlingford Lough (on the County Down side) for a look-see. It;'s my understanding that this was a companion...More
