    A special place
A very special place for cat lovers. The volunteers do an amazing job of looking after so many furry angels. Well worth the 2.5 hour drive from Protaras. It’s a shame Cyprus are so behind taking care of animals, it breaks my heart to see so many strays suffering and mainly Brits are the ones who care. Please donate to support these cats ! <3

    A special place
As a hardcore cat lover, this place was the highlight of my holiday. I received a very warm welcome from the lovely ladies on duty that day, and enjoyed relaxing spending time with the kitties. So many different areas for the cats to relax, lovely and clean, food and water everywhere, happy cats living a safe and comfortable life. Well worth a visit for proper cat lovers who understand the challenges of rescue, this is not a theme park or a zoo, it’s a safe place for unwanted cats to feel loved.

    Must visit for Cat Lovers
A cat sanctuary which is run by an extraordinarily committed team. Hundreds of cats are being cared for here. Almost without exception they are all really friendly and very keen to meet people. There are cats everywhere you look. Considering how many cats there are, this place is clean and not smelly. Entry is free but donations of money/cat food is encouraged. Well worth a visit.

    Top place for cats!
Tala cats do an amazing job looking after so many cats in need. As with many rescues they are under resourced and in need of funds. Here the hundreds of cats have somewhere to rest in shade, with plenty of food and water and can socialise with other cats and visitors. A pleasant environment for them. Open to visitors 7 days a week, 9-1. Staff really friendly.

We come to tala cat park every year since finding out about it back in 2019. Before you visit, go to a supermarket and buy some cat food or treats. It was nice to see the cats. The park rely on donations to keep it running. There is a little shop there that sell items such as t shirts, hats, mugs as well as handmade items. They have a Facebook and Instagram page where you can find out how to sponsor a cat this covers their vaccination and flea treatments etc. I mentioned to a volunteer about the cat I sponsor and showed her a copy of the certificate. She found him for me, it was so nice to meet a cat that I help, I wish I could take him home.

Favourite part of our Cyprus trip!
Tala Cats is amazing! The cats are clearly all very well looked after (disabled and sick cats are catered to as well!) so they’re all incredibly friendly and affectionate - expect to get jumped on the minute you sit or kneel down anywhere! I fell in love with one cat in particular (the ginger cat laying on the floor in my added photo) and would have adopted her but unfortunately can’t due to our apartment rules. The shelter also has kittens which are kept separate for their health and they are SO cute. I was happy to see the shelter also has very cute and reasonably priced merchandise! We bought a T-shirt (15 euro) and a tote bag (10 euro). Staff are absolutely incredible. They all clearly care so much about the cats and are all very nice. We got a Bolt taxi from Chloraka but couldn’t seem to get one back (unsure why but for about an hour drivers kept cancelling) and one of the amazing staff (sadly didn’t catch her name but she was lovely) gave us a free lift! Overall we could not recommend Tala Cats enough - a must visit❤️

We visited this morning and called at the supermarket on the way to buy food for donation. As a cat lover, this place was a little piece of heaven. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by tens of cats all looking for pets and cuddles. You can make your way around and stop to sit in different spots and immediately have 4/5 cats on your lap. Honestly I didn't want to leave. The volunteers work so hard to keep the park safe and the cats are well looked after. 🩷

A visit to the cat sanctuary is a must if you are in this area of Cyprus.
A quick drive from Tala village.
Parking in front of the sanctuary.
You will meet the ca.900 ! mogs that make the sanctuary their home.
They are all rescued, well taken care of, vaccinated and neutered. Staff and volunteers work hard here to take care of all the animals; so donations are greatly appreciated.
You will be surrounded by purring four legged friends that come in all shapes, sizes and colours and most of them love a cuddle!
There even is an area for disabled cats that suffer from illnesses, are blind, etc...
The cat home is well worth a visit!
Make sure you witness one wet-food feeding time, an experience you won't forget in a hurry.

Tala Cats are bursting at the seams with kittens and adult cats being dumped EVERY day. People need to take responsibility for their OWN cats and get them spayed. NOT dump them in Tala's car park. They have probably a THOUSAND cats. Receive NO help from the Government and rely on donations to help.

Could not recommend visiting Tala Cat Sanctuary enough, you couldn't sit down without being surrounded by cats and for me that is a dream come true. All the cats were so loving and sociable, even my partner who is a 'dog person' had fun meeting so many fur babies. We didn't take anything with us at the time but donated via PayPal after leaving, I would highly recommend taking food or cash (or donate after like we did) as they are so deserving of this, I believe every single person who volunteers here are the best people imaginable.

After visiting the monastery we walked down the road towards Tala village for approximately 10 minutes and easily found the cat sanctuary.
Free to enter and open 10am until 2pm daily.
It was amazing to see what was going on here.
It was overwhelmingly amazing.
To see the numbers of cats and to understand what tremendous effort it took from the people managing the place to care, love and nourish the cats.
I strongly recommend that you visit this place.
Amazing.

It was such a pleasure to visit the cats at the park in Tala-the staff & volunteers provide such a important service by providing a vital welfare service for these beautiful creatures.
It’s a wonderful environment for them & we would love to help as volunteers but it’s just a little too far & as we have dogs we are unable to offer a home to any of them.
But by visiting & donating we & help & support them.
I would recommend that holiday makers & people who live in Cyprus do the same.

If you are planning a trip to Tala in Pathos, Cyprus beware, as if you love animals there are thousands of stray cats hungry and homeless. I found it so upsetting and ended up feeding as many as I could find on my travels. there is a cat sanctuary called Tala Monastery cats which, although I didn't visit has had amazing reviews though sadly they can't possibly help every cat out there. If it wasn't for a lot of British people I met who live there and are constantly feeding and collecting these strays to be spayed/neutered it could be much worse. The place itself is lovely to visit and Restaurants and Bars excellent but more needs to be done solve this sad problem. I for one will never return although in that short time I made some firm friends of the lovely "Brits" doing their best to ease the situation. Well done and a big thanks to them all.
