About
The shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna picturesquely situated on a flat top of Nallamalai Hills, Srisailam is reputed to be one of the most ancient kshetras in India. It is on the right side of the River Krishna in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. This celebrated mountain is also named as Siridhan, Srigiri, Sirigiri, Sriparvatha and Srinagam. It has been a popular centre of Saivite pilgrimage for centuries. The prominence of this Divya Kshetram is highlighted by the fact that while performing our daily household rituals we specify place of location of our existence with reference to Srisailam

Well Maintained temples and it's premises and nicely maintained accomodation
Visited for Mallikarjun jyotirlinga and Brahmarambika Shakit Peeth. The only place in India where Jyotirlinga and Shakti peeth is under 1 roof. We went for Alankar darshan and Sparsha darshan. Alankar darshan is very they allow you to see jyotirlinga in decorated form and in Sparsha they literally allow you to touch the jyotirlinga. Alankar however is nothing different, what you get in 500 Rs is the same what you will get to see in free darshan queue also, only thing what matters is time. However it's better to book your darshan tickets online to avoid last moment rush. Shaktipeeth is in same premises hence same queue follows. Accomodations are also nicely maintained with clean and big rooms. Ganga Sadan and Gowri Sadan are near to temple with decent food options available nearby. Ganesh Sadan is almost 3 Kms from temple. It has been recently build hence no food option near by and bit far from temple. Distance is the only difference between 1000 Rs (Ganga and Gowri) and 2000 Rs (Ganesh Sadan) rooms. Rooms are spacious, however since they don't provide extra bedsheets or blankets only 2-3 adults can occupy as they give 1 king size bed only. It's better to book accomodation online. Near Reception office, there is a place Sai Shankar restaurant which serves good food and also provides dormitories. Other places for sightseeing are Patalganga where you will have rope car and boating option (nothing much as rope car is hardly 1 min pass and boating is like 20 mins but nothing attractive or river like feel) Sakshi Ganpati is at a distance of 10 mins drive from main temple where you need to visit first and then go to main temple darshan.

    Great experience
Great experience. Long drive from mumbai. The drive up the hill of around 35 kms is an experience. Has online booking facilities. Should use. Well managed. Cannot take mobiles bags etc inside and has to be stored outside. Not many fancy restaurants. Have to enter before 9pm as the road up the hill is closed from 9 pm to 6am. Can do a day trip if staying nearby. Has market area near in case need to buy sandalwood powder paste etc

    Srisailam Temple
I took may parents there in Jan23 end. Stay in hyderabad and hired a day taxi for travel from and back to hotel. Journey is good, the outer peripheral roads and shops area was undergoing some renovation. you have to deposit luggage at one place, mobile at another place and footwear at third place, may be due to construction work. but it was painful for old parents. Temple was very good, systematic & organised. even though it was long que, the line was moving , so it took around 1 hr for darshan. recommended to visit before 12:30 or after 4 pm. in afternoon its very hot. carry water bottles. for elderly its better to carry folding chair so that they can sit when they get tired. Prasad thing is somewhat different, you go to back side of devi temple, first pay for the prasad, carry the slip to other counter for getting the prasad by showing the slip. seemed too much commercialised. if you want bag, they charge it extra.

    Well Organised Temple
Well organised temple with transparent booking facilities. We did perform Chandi Homam and Abhishekam that was exceptionally conducted by the brahmins with very good explanation of process. All bookings are online and no counters for the same except for normal darshan.

MALLIKARJUNA temple at SRISHAILAM is one of the important Lord Shiva's Jyotirlingas.
In addition, it also houses a Shaktipeeth called Bramarambha temple.
Hence it is unique in housing both a jyotirlinga & a sakthipeeth in one complex.
It is about 240 kms away from Hyderabad.
It is well connected with ROAD / RAIL transports from Hyderabad.
Road journey is about 4 hours in a cab.
Without any doubt it is a wonderful temple.
Neatly maintained. It has a large complex with many other deities around the main two deities.

I was fortunate to have "Sparsha-darshan" of the Lingam.
Though the floor mounted Lingam was small in size it was very powerful.
It was a really a pleasant and positive feeling to have had such a close darshan.
The lighting inside the 'garba-graha' was very poor.
One needs to see the deity very closely and carefully.
Further we are allowed only few seconds to have darshan after which we are being pushed out.

Then we went to the bramaranbha temple and had a beautiful darshan there too.
The deity was very beautiful and powerful.
It definitely gives positive vibes.
I felt very happy after having darshans of both the deities satisfactorily.

Dress codes for men and women are required to be followed as specified for "sparsh-darshan".

Then we went round the premises where we could see many small temples with different lingams, saptha Kannika etc. There is a place for anna-prasnam where deities can have food as prasadam.

Normally the temple is crowded because of which the free darshan takes about 1 ½ hours during normal days. If one wants to have a comfortable darshan in comparatively lesser time They can have either "Seeghra-darshan" (150/- per person which takes about 40 minutes for darshan) or "Athi-Seeghra darshan" (300/- per person which takes about 20 minutes for darshan) tickets for which could also be booked in advance. online. If one wants to have "sparsh-darshan", tickets could be booked in advance, online, (500/-) in which case one can touch the Lingam and have a close darshan. The crowd management by the temple authorities is appreciable.
However proper guiding boards for various darshans are missing in the temple which in turn causes hardships to devotees.

While travelling from Hyderabad to Srisailam in cab one has to pass through the roads in the forest area called AMARABAD where the roads are closed between 9PM to 6AM. In case one has to do Abhisheks, he may have to stay back in Srisailam. However decent hotels and eateries are scarce items here.

After darshan in Srisailam Mallikarjun temple complex one has to visit the SAAKSHI GANAPATHY temple, around 3 kms away from MALLIKARJUN temple, on the way back to Hyderabad. This is considered to be the siddhi Vinayak of south. This tradition is required to be followed as a Saakshi (Proof) to our Mallikarjun temple visit. Otherwise, your visit to Mallikarjun temple is considered to be fruitless. The Ganapathy here is really beautiful and pleasing.

Overall, this visit was very interesting and pleasant. It gives positive vibes.
Easily it is a “must visit” temple.

one of the twelve jyotirlingas. Nice temple but very badly managed. Online booking but require a hard copy of tickets. Compulsory traditional dress of kurta dhoti.. saree.. long queue despite online booking. No good hotels to stay nearby. A Sarai opposite temple is ok
