We deviated 11 km total from our bike route to visit. Bah! Unless you’ve never seen a fresco’d wall or a mosaic floor in your life, don’t waste your 10 E each. The “museum” is a joke, some carving fragments, damaged frescoes, and lumps of...More

This abbey is roughly halfway between Venice and Ravenna on road SS309. It is next to a comfort stop which has toilets and a cafe, which is actually why our bus tour stopped there. There is a small entrance fee (I think five euros) but...More

One of the most beautiful churches I have seen. The walls are covered with very well preserved frescoes and the floor with the most amazing tiny mosaic tiles. The place has a lovely atmosphere similar to Torcello in Venice.

We stumbled upon this place on our way from Venice to Ferrara. The exterior was interesting looking, with the tall tower and ancient appearance, but we were awestruck when the doors opened and we got a look at the gorgeous frescoes inside. We were there...More

This isolated abbey is on the site of a monastery dating back about 1500 years. The church frescoes are quite amazing and well worth seeing. Outbuildings contain some interesting museum exhibits. A 5 euro entrance fee is charged. Clean toilets and food outlets are nearby....More

This abbey was built about a thousand years ago with many of the buildings rebuilt and updated. There are lovely frescoes and grounds. It is very photogenic. It is also of great historic interest.

Worth the detour - Nice architecture and free visit. There is not a lot to see in the area but you'll be amazed by that abbey if you pass by.
