Having booked a visit with our hotel we had a fascinating but slightly speedy (due to an imminent wedding) tour around the monastery, church & crypt. We learnt loads- who knew that they kept the monks for 6 months after death before "picking " them!

We were lucky to have a personal tour by Giuseppe Adamo of the monks living quarters. I found it utterly fascinating - the bedrooms, latrines (!) kitchen and eating hall are all well preserved. There is also original equipment for farming, shoemaking and food preparation.

The visit to this monastery provided insight into hermit living. The vistas are beautiful, and drive to the sight fun, but there are some parts of the road that require care to traverse.
