Three familiar words of the day - ‘Business As Usual’ - noted all the way in on numerous yellow detour signs. The quick access road at Braithwaite is shut temporarily, so the forest is a bit of a hassle to get to at the moment...More

I was disappointed at the lack of walking trails. They were pretty short and tame. The ones that were even strenuous were pretty easy and short. Grizedale Forest is much better with longer trails. I feel as though the forest could have longer trails where...More

Visited here on a week long holiday in the lakes. The wife and our 3 dogs cane along too which was great. I rode the altura loop north and south which was great fun if not a little short. Cafe was superb together with quality...More

The trails seem to have been tamed since my last visit many years ago, all the drop offs, rocks etc have been removed and are just gravel paths now. The red being a steeper path than blue. There is certainly no need for a full...More

No visit to the Lakes would be complete without a trip to Whinlatter for us. As soon as we park the car previous memories surface and there is always a feeling of peace and that wonderful scent from the trees. On this visit we had...More

My husband and I took our 3 month old here for a walk, and whilst the baby slept the whole way, we really enjoyed some lovely scenery! There’s a good selection of routes depending on how long you would like your walk to be, and...More

As most of our forests are beautiful, this one is no exception. Breathtaking views and a wonderful walk. However, poor customer service in Siskins Cafe leaves a sour taste so don’t feel too bad if you miss it out. £13.55 to be served by someone...More

Enjoyed a little family adventure through the forest in search for Gruffalo!! The trail was manageable for our two year old and a mummy to be, nothing too strenuous. Staff were great and really good at interacting with children. Enjoyed the cafe on return, good...More

Plenty of well marked trails for walkers that manage to keep you safely separated from the cycle trails except for a few crossing points.

About 10 to 15 minutes away. There are traffic lights set up on Penrith Road near Millfeild retirement home at the moment which causes some delays but hopefully they won't be there for much longer.
