An enjoyable easy walk with two dogs who were able to run off lead when not on the roadway used by the foresters. Very wet day so slippery underfoot on some slopes with slate even with walking boots. Amazing views. The visitor centre is great...More

Lovely walks through the forest and easy to get to, not too far from Keswick especially when the diversion is taken away.

Excellent trails, had a great day out. All the routes can be covered in a day with time for a drink and a bit of cake in the cafe..

OK place, great for families with young kids but not much else unless you want to walk round the trails. There are better and nicer walks nearby. Very expensive to park, no quibble if the money is spent on the Upkeep of the Forest.

I have rarely felt ripped off in our tours of North England, but this was one where I walked away complaining. My wife and I called in for a quick something and a cup of coffee to put us on until we could get to...More

Visited the park for the Tour of Britain cycle race . The ToB team and the Forestry Commission team did a fantastic job. Not sure about the car parking charges as I had a free pass.

Tour of Britain came through with lorises, caravans and loads of spectators. Great spectacle but couldn't move!

We walked through Whinlatter on our way back to Braithwaite after a day on the fells. The teashop serving hood food was a pleasant spot to rest and reenergise for the final walk back to our holiday cottage. Route signage round the forest could have...More

We came for a walk and were surprised by how much there was to do. We followed the blue trail but also did one of the Gruffalo trails. Lovely place and then a great visit to the cafe. Pleased it was so dog friendly.

About 10 to 15 minutes away. There are traffic lights set up on Penrith Road near Millfeild retirement home at the moment which causes some delays but hopefully they won't be there for much longer.

SuJayne is right, there is quite a large playground if the weather is good. The visitors center is quite good but won't keep young children entertained for long. The Gruffalo trail through the woods is as long or short as... More
