Hired mountain bikes - which were good. Did the blue trail and parts of the red trail. The courses offered a variety of thrills. Sign-posting was not the best. Cafe was reasonable, but the queuing, ordering and payment system need improvement

Worth a visit here. We have a 3 year old though who struggled with the highway rat trail. Compared to the Gruffalo trail at Grizdale forest it is much more strenuous. Still we took our time and it was okay. Some good views here. Playgrounds...More

Great area. Good car park with a good system compared to other parking in the area. Pleasant and clean surroundings with facilities on site. Many different walks available - each with different difficulties and durations.

The forest is full of exciting nature discoveries and the visitor's centre is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, with tasteful and reasonably priced gifts. Staff regularly field questions or give talks about the web cam which is trained on an osprey nest and the cafe is...More

SuJayne is right, there is quite a large playground if the weather is good. The visitors center is quite good but won't keep young children entertained for long. The Gruffalo trail through the woods is as long or short as... More

Sorry I have only just seen your question. I am unsure if there is a bus up there but you could get a taxi and it is well worth it.
