Good museum

The mechanical puppet show was very clever. The museum is much bigger than it appears and covers the whole history of Hameln. Worth the entrance fee.

Well worth a visit

It doesn't look big from the outside but goes on and on, on the inside. Really interesting history about the Pied Piper and lots of books, pictures etc, as well as a history of Hameln and even a special exhibition about the history of James Bond, the films, actors etc. There was disabled access not only with lifts, but special stair lifts as well. A very enjoyable and interesting visit.

Excellent museum
Jul 2019 • Family
The museum is really modern and well laid out with lots of interesting content about the history of the town and the Pied Piper. There's a bit in English but understandably the exhibits are only described in German. The James Bond exhibit was fantastic and the Pied Piper show was very cool.

Well worth a visit.

The inside of the museum is much bigger than the outside appears!
The story starts thousands of years ago and comes all the way to the present day.
The mechanical depiction of the pied Piper story was very good.
5 euro entrance fee is very fair.
Had I not been a German speaker then I would have dropped a point as there was little in English.

Unusual and quirky
Jan 2019 • Couples
Wasn't sure quite what to make of the place after we'd visited as it seems to be a number of different museums in one. The history of Hameln certainly made sense; it was a little strange to then have part of a floor dedicated to the 1970s, and a collection of holocaust and nazi memorabilia in the attic areas. We watched the story of the Pied Piper in the mechanical museum which is probably better suited to children.

We had home made soup for lunch, very tasty. A good location next to the museum and great for watching the world go by.

Excellent museum

I highly recommend this museum. They do a great job telling the fascinating, yet creepy, story of the Pied Piper. The mechanical play was done very well. Kind of scary! Also, having live rats in the museum added another perspective to the whole experience. My TEENAGE kids loved putting on the Pied Piper costumes! Definitely a 5 star museum!

A Superb Museum
Apr 2018 • Family
This is one of the best museums we've ever visited on our travels. The quality of the exhibits, signage and overall setting are superb. It's a beautiful building too! The staff are friendly and welcoming. We were very lucky that the special exhibit, 'Rats!' was still going when we visited, even though it should have ended a few days earlier. The dressing up / stage area was brilliant. There was an extremely well produced leaflet in English which told you everything you could ever wish to know about rats and even see the real things in a cute little house.

Absolutely a must visit if in the beautiful city of Hameln.

Christmas Visit
Dec 2017 • Couples
We visited the cafe only for a coffee, a cake and a gluewein here on Christmas Day afternoon. It was bright, warm, welcoming with clean toilets, always a good guide to the attitude of the staff. Service was as quick as the fully crowded café would allow. A good place to stop for a rest and refreshments. Recommended!
