Very, very interesting to see how Bismarck made his mark in Kissingen!

Having walked along the Saale River to the Saline works - a delightful walk even in the pouring rain! (Don't wear sandals! The gravel will drive you mad when it gets in your shoes!) The Saline Works were definitely worth seeing - then I walked the little bit further to the palatial house where Bismarck's quarters were. N.B. the house does not open before 2 p.m. I only gave 3 points as there are so many more spectacular baroque palaces around. This is NOT spectacular, but interesting & I learned a lot about Bismarck but also about the importance of the salt industry in former times.

One of the Most Interesting Things to See in Bad Kissingen
Jul 2014 • Couples
I would not miss this museum if I were in town, but would not make a special trip. The museum presents the life of Bismarck in an interesting and entertaining manner. Rarely does a museum capture the imagination of both adults and children the way this one does. Bismarck, like many wealthy and powerful people of the 19th Century were frequent visitors to the town. Therefore, they have a sprinkling of personal effects mixed in with a rather thorough representation of his history and significance. It is a small museum, but well worth a stop for the curious.

A little gem of an exhibition
Jun 2014 • Friends
The Bismarck Museum is in a very picturesque rural setting and interesting in its own right but on the top floor of the building is a wonderful exhibition of toys and children's books from all over the world which have been gathered together over a long period of time by Hilla Schutze, a resident of Bad Kissingen and an ardent collector. The exhibits are imaginatively displayed in several rooms and beautifully lit. Anyone with even the slightest interest in toys and how they are made would enjoy seeing this marvellous collection.
