A whopping €27 per person -

Lunch for four at the Tegernseer Brauhaus with additional salad cost €74 on Sunday lunchtime... the trip for four with a dog cost €110.50...
Where is the value in that?
Something's not right!

Over 3 miles of non-stop sledding...whoa!

We brought our 2 kids, ages 2 and 4, down the mountain with us and they loved it! But leave your plastic sleds at home and rent the wood sleds at the mountain for 5 Euro for all day. We brought our plastic sled with steering and brake capability and it was useless! The steep slopes and many curves make it very difficult to control any other sled than the ones provided.

Kids ages 6 and below are free and the cost for 2 ascends was 17 euro! Well worth it since it takes 30-45 minutes to go down the mountain one time (round trip with gondola take about one hour for one run). And don't miss the one hot chocolate stand about a quarter of the way down the mountain. There is only one so don't forget to stop.

Be on the watch out for run-away sleds though as some bumps make you lose the sled beneath you. I recommend kids wear helmets as a precaution.

To take the gondola it is 20 Euro person and 2 Euro for your dog. The cars are quaint and small but just fine. The ride to the top takes 15 minutes and the views are amazing. Once you get to the top the views are even better. The weather for this May was exceptional cool so it snowed the night before so the snow was a bit deep but we were able to walk around. The church on the top is just stunning. Great spot to take pictures. The restaurant on top is pretty good. They serve a full menu. But beware they only take cash.

It's a super cable car ride to the top. Great views and walking trails. A must visit. When you come down by the cable car you must walk back to Lake Tegernesse. It's a 30 minute walk but the country side, houses, farms are amazing.

The cable car leads up to the Wallberg where you can have a short hike up to the top, enjoy the panoramic view in the panorama restaurant or walk a little down to the wallberghaus. All is feasable with dogs. Also you can do with rough terrain capable (big wheels) baby strollers eg the walk to the wallberghaus - but you need to be able to hold it downwards and be able to push it uphill on your way back. On clear days you can see the entire region and its worthwihile the trip. You can also do one way tours. In all the restaurants your dog is allowed if indoor clean.

Sledging in the UK meant sliding down the hill in the local park, then dragging the sledge and yoursef back up the hill under your own steam. Not here. Pay to go up the mountain in a cable car then sledge down the 6,5Km track, thats a good 4 miles, on a sledge. You can hire a sledge for €5 for the day, which seems a bargain - photo ID or €50 deposit required and buy either a single ticket or multiple tickets to go p in the cable car. 6 Runs up cost about €55 for an adult. The first Km or 2 have some quite steep sections, my brother in law did the run once, with a son of his on the sledge with him, and wouldn't do it again, as he didn't feel in control of the sledge on the steep parts. I managed it twice, but with a child on the sledge as well, it was hard work. My 12 year old son managed it on his own, though on the second run he somehow managed to lose his sledge on one steep part and it ran over the edge of the track - I had to climb 20m down the side of the hill to get it. The day we went it had rained overnight and the man renting the sledges warned us the track wasn't in good condition and so did the lady selling the cable car tickets. The second half of the track follws a tarmaced road, and the road was visible through the snow/slush, but didn't really hamper us. About half way down there is a hut for refreshments, also a restaurant at the top of the cable car. We first went a year ago, getting there 10 am in the morning - the place was packed, parking very hard to find and had 2 massive queues - one for sledge rental and one for the cable car - we didn't bother and drove off, so on good days, turn up early. I'd recommend a helmet, either ski or bike would be fine. Today I went to Söll, a day ticket there for sledging, on their 3,2Km track is €24 and rental 7€, which makes this potentially a fairly expensive experience - however the track is one of the longest in Germany, so perhaps a worthwhile experience. Pets aren't allowed, clearly, although there is one to see in their official video!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable trip. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains as we ascended Wallberg in the cable car. Panorama Restaurant at the top served delicious apple strudels and the outlook was glorious. We walked to the chapel which was also delightful and the whole visit was enhanced by the fact that we had very good sunny weather and the temperature was warm and pleasant.

Went for a hike up Wallbergbahn and it was tiring but gratifying. 2 hour hike uphill but 1 hour 20 mins downhill. Lovely scenery. Hike can be difficult in segments where the path was rocky. At the top, the views were fantastic. Watched hang gliders taking off. Panorama restaurant was a Godsend after the hike, serving delicious Kaiserschmaarn. Definitely worth attempting but if one is not up to it, there is always the easier option with the cable car, providing bird's eye of the lake and the surrounding villages.

Took the tram up and the views were breathtaking. Went to the panoramic restaurant and had delicious struedal and great conversation with our waiter. Walked up to the quaint church on the hill and heard all the cowbells before seeing the cows! Decided to walk down the mountain. Beautiful walk that took about 1 hr and 45 min. Beautiful afternoon!

The cable car leads to the Wallberg. Awesome panoramic views and breath of fresh air. I’m glad we got to do this whilst there.
