I don’t know whether the chapel can actually be visited inside. The location where King Ludwig II died is important for those interested in the matter. Otherwise, it is a beautiful location, like many others on the lake shore. Not a must in my view.

It’s a nice walk in a leafy forest to reach the chapel. A simple cross to mark where the story king was found dead. A nice walk to bring visitors - and a steep walk up to feel the muscles in your legs.

This is a must see, it's tucked away and we found it by accident. The chapel is lovely and the grounds and view are breathtaking.

When I visited the site, the Votivkapelle was closed for renovation. Propably will be closed for a bit (a year or 2?)

The Votivkapelle is a very special place to visit. It is a very impressive chapel to remember a part of the Bavarian history.
