Great period site to visit. But you won’t spend a lot of time here. The sign says you can. It visit at 10 or 1130. But really mass starts at just before 1130 and runs until 1230. Best to visit in the afternoon.

It's a impressive building on a high point in the town but surrounded by scaffolding at present. It is free to enter and was not overly busy. The alter is very ornate and eye catching but the rest of the church is fairly plain and...More

Sits impressively as a major landmark above the Town with it’s 4 spires highly visible. At present there is an abundance of scaffolding somewhat spoiling the view/ pictures externally. However, the interior is lovely and free to visit. There was an active service on during...More

The cathedral is a fascinating building, but has clearly been very throughly restored in the nineteenth century. Tilman Riemanschneider's tomb of Henry II and Kunigund is magnificant and the church has a lot of fine late medieval altarpieces. The Ritter is beautiful.

Having just come from Italy where they make you pay through the nose and queue for hours to visit most of the more impressive cathedrals (Florence and Siena for example) it was quite refreshing to be able to walk straight into this one in Bamberg....More

It’s not a totally impressive 13th century cathedral but it is a landmark on a hill overlooking the entire city of Bamberg, and it does have a unique style with four large towers. The interior has a choir at each end, frescos and offers a...More

The cathedral is not that much known for hosting the tomb of Pope Clement II (1005–47), the only pope whose relicts are buried in Germany. And you may have trouble to find this tomb. Another tomb made by the famous sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider is much...More

While no where near as ornate as many European churches and cathedrals, this one can still boast some unique features. This is the third cathedral to be built on this site, the two predecessors having burned. It took so long to complete that different styles...More

Hi, We visited this year and I see from the plan that the Sacrament Chapel is marked number 13 and is on the left hand side entering from Adam's Portal just before The Chapel of the Nail. Hope this helps.
