Entering the old town.
Jul 2021
We passed this bridge before entering the old town. It's a beautiful bridge but nothing more, nothing less.

Remarkable Roman architecture!
Jul 2020
To really appreciate this site, before you visit Google the flood at this bridge and watch some of the video footage. When you visit you'll be astonished to realize how much water was rushing through, and also the impacts the bridge withstood! Those Romans really knew what they were doing! Walk through the village while you're here, it's very beautiful and charming.

A must see in Vaison la Romaine
Nov 2019
The old Roman bridge forms the bridge to the present town which has as well the old Roman remains and the old medieval part. Crossing it means one jumps back in time. Don't forget to have a look at the wall of the house which has a sign that shows how high the desastrous flooding was in 1992. Incredible to compare with the peaceful river down under.

Beautiful old bridge
Oct 2019
The story goes that when the river flooded this bridge was the only one that did not get wiped out. I guess the Romans knew how to build. See the high water flood mark from the flood way above the top of the bridge. A small but mighty piece of architecture.

Still in use

So this bridge was built by the Romans 2000 years ago and has survived floods trucks and various atmospheric conditions. Amazing what quality work was done and still survive. Check it out

Standing on the bridge, you have views on the Mont Ventoux on the one side and Ville Haute - the Medieval old town of Vaison-la-Romainethe [the old town] on the other

The best part of this bridge are the views on the Mont Ventoux on the one hand and the fantastic view on the old town on the other. And you can look down and see a river :).

Roman and Still Used Daily
Jun 2018 • Couples
A still intact Roman Bridge used every day. Only crossing within the town across a small gorge. Excellent for taking photos and the views are superb. Beware visiting on a Tuesday - it is market day and exceedingly busy.

History still in Use!
Jun 2018 • Couples
How often do you get to see something built in the first century that is still used everyday? And was under water in 92?
