Soon to be closed for renovations...amazing old house of famous French writer, who combined career of academician, naval officer, novelist etc., and changed inside of family house into a fairytale place, reminiscent of Robin Hood and Arabian Nights...

I did the tour which lasts an hour only after booking space. They only take 10 people per tour. It was in French, but I was given a handout in English which gave the history and had explanations for the different rooms on the tour....More

We decided to visit this during the annual Open Gardens Festival in the Charente Maritime. The guide spent all her time talking about Pierre Loti nothing about the gardens, which was just a court yard and because it was not one of their normal opening...More

What an amazing place, I can't tell you how interesting this is. It looks like nothing from outside but once in it's like an aladdin's cave. Absolutely fascinating Don't miss it, but try to book a guide in your spoken language.

Welcome! Unfortunaly, Loti's house won't open it doors for à long time, but you should watch 3D realistic visit.
