We visited Mont Saint Michel today. We chose to book a hotel not near the Mont, since it is extremely touristy and were therefore staying in Dinan. We would definitely recommend this beautiful city. In the morning we spent 45 minutes driving to the Mont....More

The whole saint michel experience is worth the trip. We went in spring and it was full of people. Lots of French come here so that tells you they think its worth the trip.

Took the bus leaving from the Pontorson train station. We visited early morning, not very crowded. By the time we left (early afternoon) the hordes were overtaking the island! That being said, looking past the tacky tourist shops, it is incredible sight to wander through....More

The fortifications of Mont-Saint-Michel, constructed in the 1500's, are defensive intended to protect the island and Abbey mainly during the Hundred Years war. The fortified walls have semi-circular towers and 1 bastioned tower; they are Claudine Tower, Tour du Nord, Tour de l’Arcade, the Kings...More

The experience of being at this especial location worth the fact that all tourists have to drag the suitcases for a few hundred yards and up endless steps if you really want to stay at the island. But in a special place... all worth it....More

Arrive early to avoid the crowds and/or schedule your visit so that you witness a tidal change. If you have time (and money!) spend the night in one of the hotels on the Mount itself or in a hotel nearby so that you can have...More

Very impressive and well worth the walk. You can feel the strength of the defences and the despair of the enemy.....

It is definitely a special place that will leave you with unforgettable memories! Enjoy! The place, its beauty, the views and the rich history. Try to forget the expense and arrogance of poor service yo will no doubt encounter during your visit.

It was raining and nowhere to wait for the bus and then when bus came he dropped us off with about 500m to walk to the island. The place has gone really tacky with Madam Poulard taking over lots of shops and eating places and...More

Postcards do not do it justice ! You can picture how before the causeway friends let alone foes were at the behest of the tides for entry ! The entire Island is one big fortified site with arrow slots, cannon notches, drawbridges and a big...More

We went to Hôtel Vert. It's near the Mont Saint Michel. The price for 2 adults is 89 eur by night. It's very clean and just in front of the bus (free) to go to the Mont Saint Michel.
