Lac de Gaube is absolutely stunning! We took the ski lift up then a short walk to the lake. It's pretty rocky in certain areas so I would not recommend flip flops. Although, I did see a couple of girls all dressed up in a...More

Easy to get to with lots of options. From the Village (very long walk). Or walk from the car park at Pont d'Espagne (reasonable walk) or take the Gondola from the Car park and then a short walk to the top. A Hotel at the...More

For a non hiker, it is a trek to the lake. We chose the gondola and chairlift ticket to get to there. Walk is 20-25 minutes from chairlift exit on a rocky somewhat uneven path. Not extremely hilly but a tough walk. Signs are not...More

Absolutely beautiful. A must see if the region. Cable cars, ski lift then short walk to the lake. We then chose to walk back down, which took at least an hour with 2 children but was doable with good footwear

About an hour and a half walk from the car park at Pont D'Espagne. A relatively easy walk to this amazingly beautiful lake. The scenery is just stunning here. There is a path to the right-hand side of the lake that takes you further into...More

I’ve visited many great places and this certainly ranks among the very best. I would describe it as accessible wilderness. Mountain peaks, alpine fauna, lakes, waterfalls. Miles of varied hiking routes. Tele-cabin and chair-lift, hard or gentle paths, it’s whatever you want it to be....More

Wow wow wow.. what a beautiful place. The town of Cauterets at the bottom of the mountain is gorgeous with plenty of free entertainment offered in the evening for children. The hike up to the lake takes about 1.5hrs up a pleasant track following a...More

Well worth a visit. Breathtaking view of the magical Pyrenees. You can decide whether to hike all the way to the top (count a minimum of 1h30 depending on fitness!!) or to take a chair lift from pont d Espagne. We decided to take a...More
