Worth stopping off here and doing the sand dune hike ! Local town isn’t worth going to ...much nicer to go to Cap Ferret on the other side of the basin.

Unfortunately, our cruise on Baisson d'Arcachon didn't allow good views of the dune. What we did see was nice, but it would have been better on a sunny day.

An amazing feature. You need to be reasonably fit to climb it, But it was a spectacular experience and view. Well worth the detour we took to see it, but give yourself 2-3 hours to properly experience it.

Though we had read about the Dune in advance, we were not prepared for the grandeur we experienced upon reaching the summit. Please note that the summit is reached by climbing up the sand or by hiking up about 200 stairs. Neither is simple, but...More

Although it seems to be oeverrrun by tourists, it is definitely worth to climb up the dune and have a stunning view over the whole area. With good weather you can see quite far.

As part of our fly, drive, walk, tour we ended up outside of Bordeaux at this outdoors excursion. The hike up the great dunes rewarded us with a Cap Feret amazing view.

The Dune du Pilat is a very unique place. I would give it 3.5 if I could. We took the 1 hour drive from Bordeaux to come check this out per some recommendations from locals. It is pretty stunning from the top of the dune,...More

This is a great activity to do while you are visiting Arcachon. We walked to the second peak and then down to the water. We walked along the water's edge and then had the hard climb up the dune (without the aid of steps). We...More

Absolutely incredible, do not hesitate and just visit this place. Just walking to the bottom of the dune was incredible to see the size of this monster. There are steps to climb which would make it slightly easier but I went straight up on the...More

If you come from Arcachon it takes about 40 min by bike. A nice ride by the way.
