We have never seen this castle mentioned in a guidebook but picked up its brochure in nearby Hall, Austria (a lovely town much prettier than nearby Innsbruck). The castle is owned and run by the family owners since 1848, and the care shows. History goes...More

The only working thing was the little train that went up to the castle. We had to wait for two hours, but the organization was crazy. We didn't receive the audioguide at the cash (as in other similar circumtances). After so long waiting, they took...More

This castle has been beautifully preserved. Walk up or take the wheeled train. The tour can be listened to in many languages. Castle has beautiful wall and picture paintings. Many unique furniture items. A real look back into history. Great gift shop.

Beautifully preserved castle with a great tour. Amazing Renaissance furnishings, art. Quite incredible at how well preserved – no climate control or blinds to protect against sun damage. As you pull into the property, you get a token for the parking lot. The parking lot...More

It was a rainy day and we decided to check out this castle. It was fabulous! It was not crowded at all, 8 in our tour. Probably took an hour with hand held audio players. We've been to tons of castles around Europe, this is...More

This place is a must see when visiting Tyrol. It is one of the most truly authentic exhibits of what life was really like living in an aristocratic Renaissance castle in the Inn Valley. The rooms presented on the tour are decorated in a most...More

Visited while on a Shearings Coach holiday. Cute, bumpy ride up to castle on little tourist 'train' - going through woods. Excellent guide took us through this wonderfully maintained, privately-owned C16th castle. The history of the family, the building, its contents are interesting, fascinating, detailed...More

We decided to visit Schloss Tratzberg after reading several good reviews of it that other Trip Advisor members had written. It was wonderful. The room interiors were absolutely stunning in their elegant simplicity. The furnishings were fabulous. The exterior walls of the inner courtyard were...More

Schloss Tratzberg is perched on the side of a mountain in thick forest. Park in the car park (inexpensive) and either stroll up to the castle (20-30 Mins) or take the tourist train from outside the cafe. If you are staying for 5 nights or...More

The tour was audio based and you learn about the history with the info provided. It was a bit stuffy inside. The furnishings and audio provide you a good idea of how it was like to live there. I had the opportunity ro have snacks...More

Looked at the local options for a visit in the area and thought this looked the most interesting and best value. We weren't disappointed. The walk up from the car park is quite hard in hot weather but probably easier if you have time to...More
