The octagonal Baptistery of San Giovanni dates back to the 13th century and looks a bit like a smaller version of baptisteries in for instance Florance and Pisa. It's opposite the cathedral (which is currently under restoration). Only one of the sides has been furnished...More

There are so many baptisteries in the area and, although this one is smaller than many, it is well worth a visit. It is right next door to the Cathedral which was closed for internal and external restoration when we were in the town. The...More

A beautiful octagonal shaped church with some nice interiors. Peaceful. Worth a visit and sitting to view and contemplate.

Beautiful small baptistery and easy to see. When seeing the historical site in Volterra this is one not to miss. It's octagonal shape is faced with green and white marble on one side only, a bit different.

Near the cathedral, the Baptistery is worth a quick look. The exterior is clearly seen when approaching Volterra. The interior is sparsely decorated but nicely. It has a cool and peaceful feel. Please show respect and be quiet when inside.

This attraction is free to visit. It is interesting to understand its 8 side shape. Volterra is very small, so you will surely visit this one.
