Stayed in Stresa to explore this lake by boat The picturesque fishing villages on Lake Maggiore are a sight to see. Clusters of rainbow-coloured buildings pepper the shoreline giving each village its own unique personality. Plenty of photo opportunities with the stunning scenery.

Scenery all along the lake is stunning. Great views and photo opportunities both from the land and on the numerous boat trips and ferries on offer. Well worth a visit

Even in June, with millions of tourists, the boat service around the lake is terrific. It’s worth getting to the Imbarcadero a bit ahead of time as there are usually a few confused tourists shouting at the ticket sellers in the wrong language. However every...More

I would go to Stresa which is a small resort town of 5.000 inhabitants with everything on it and good enough for Hemingway.

I went in late September and only needed a very light coat. If you prefer it warm I'd go in June/July.
