I have walked to the Bastion in Riva del Garda many times and its really quite easy and I am not entirely in agreement that you need proper walking shoes. These are more comfortable to wear but if you're really stuck, a sturdy pair of...More

The walk to the Bastione, the views are all worth the visit. The Bastione [pronouned ... Basti oh nay] itself is evocative of a rich history. It's not like one of UK's grand old castle ruins. It's quaint. If you have the extra hour continue...More

It's a 20-30min steep walk from the edge of Riva town centre. The breathlessness is worth it once you see the view from here. The Bastion itself is OK with just a small info board.

Amazing view to Riva and the lake. There's also a little café where you can buy something to eat and drink. Quite easy way up.

A long walk up but the views are stunning when you get there. Had a beer and a Pizza in the restaurant when we arrived and sat outside enjoying the view while we ate. Well worth the walk

Looks close but a bit of long walk say 20mins along zig zag pathway but well worth the effort for the views across Riva and Lake Garda. Lots of puffing from us and others undertaking this gentle climb.

If your in town I would put this down as a must do activity. It’s not a long hike, about 200m elevation and on a well maintained path a car can get up. Once at the Bastion the views are great and a quick refreshment...More

I agree with the other answers, it would be possible with difficulty. The pathway has tracks for cars but these might be too wide for a wheelchair. Having said that, many families with children in buggies made it up the... More
