A must visit if you’re in the area. We drove all the way to town. Parking is paid but reasonable. Otherwise you can park out of town and catch the bus in. We chose a quiet day to visit and there was parking but bus...More

Took the ferry here from Monterosso - the ride is pleasant and affords great views of all the towns. The sights here are similar to the 5 towns (not Long Island) but on a larger scale and a bit less charming. We enjoyed are visit...More

Lots of tourists go to cinque terre. Maybe too many go there. The small towns are crowded, getting to them is a challenge, and perhaps a bit of a let down. That is contrasted with Porto Venere. It is not actually part of the Cinque...More

Approaching the village by bus or by boat, one is struck by the setting and the colorful houses along the shore. The town ends with a church on a rock cliff. We very much enjoyed our stroll through the town and stopped at several shops...More

We stayed in Portovenere for our visit of Cinque Terre. Although there are boats from Portovenere to Cinque Terre, the trains don’t stop here. Therefore it is more expensive to begin your visit from here. But this is a cute town, with lots of restaurants...More

We found this village to not only be scenic, but friendly and relatively relaxed and uncrowded especially in the evening. Must visit the churches and fortress. An express boat to Monterosso at 8:45 got us started on an excellent and challenging hike to Riomaggiore. Ask...More

Small harbor town, few tourists except on Sat (at least in April), short boat ride to the Cinque terre, peaceful waterfront with wonderful (mostly) restaurants. Our hosts at L'Oblo were fantastic, treated us like family, or better.

Spent three wonderful days in this laid back, sunny, and friendly town. Stayed at the Belvedere Hotel, with vista views of the bay. Day tripped to Cinque Terre and hiked the trail from Vernazza to Monterosso - an hour and a half hike with elevation...More

Came here on a shore excursion, we were impressed. Nice to walk up to the cathedral to see great views, then stroll around to admire the Colourful buildings, seaside scenery and have a coffee/meal at one of the seaside bistros.
