Interesting amphitheater at amazing site
Oct 2019 • Couples
The amphitheater was interesting though not as impressive as other parts of the Paestum ruins. It was unfortunate that the highway cuts through the amphitheater.

Interesting, but no need to linger

Interesting site on way between the two temple complexes, but no need to linger or loiter, at least there is some shade in the arch entrance if hot

Not Much Of The Amphitheatre Left
Jun 2019 • Couples
The best view of the amphitheatre is from the road outside the fence as you are higher. There is not a lot left of what was a place built by the Romans around the first century.

Great history!

Real gem in a lovely little town - do wish there was more around it though such as more than one cafe.

Partly buried amphitheatre
Feb 2018 • Solo
Built during the roman times and thus an addition to the rest of the area dating mostly to the greek times, it is still well preserved though two thirds of it were buried under a road constructed during the 30s of the last century.

Short vidit to Paestum
Oct 2018 • Couples
You don't really get the feeling of the amphitheatre till you walk in and go to the far end and look back. Bearing in mind two thirds of the building is under the road it is still really impressive

Small amphitheatre
Jul 2018 • Family
The amphitheatre is built in a normal Roman pattern. Only the western half is visible as in 1930 AD a road was built across the site, burying the eastern half. Th amphitheatre was filled during Roman times and not used for centuries. You can visit this when visiting the Archaeological Park.

Small but intact
Aug 2018 • Solo
Part of the Paestum ruins is the amphitheatre which could be missed or confused with the council seating.

Roman amphitheatre
May 2018 • Couples
This Roman addition to the mainly Greek site is interesting and also shows how decisions of one can destroy so much (a road was build across half of it in 1930 but reportedly the civil engineer responsible was jailed for it).

Small Roman Amphitheatre on Otherwise Greek Site
May 2018 • Couples
A small Roman amphitheatre, interesting in itself, but pales when compared to the three amazing Greek temples nearby. Only half of the amphitheatre has been excavated as an idiotic civil engineer built a road across the other half in 1930.
