A great evidence of an Etruscan graveyard, far different from the one in Tarquinia (which was made by an aristocratic class, while this one stems from a more egalitarian middle-class), located right below Orvieto's cliff and surrounded by nature.. Unfortunately the whole site is in...More

This Etruscan Necropolis is a short walk down the hill. We saw it when using the bathroom and decided to take a detour to see if firsthand. It was a somewhat interesting area.

The Etruscan Necropolis is found halfway down the hill that Orvieto sits upon, and therefore the walk down is rather steep. Initially anyone with vertigo will not appreciate the wooden walkways which are rather see-through, but other than that it is a pleasant walk through...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this necropolis. It has a little very well-kept museum included in the entrance ticket. The area is overgrown with vegetation but it makes it all the more enjoyable and gives it a mysterious feel. Very worthwhile a visit especially...More

This site was a "must" for me being fascinated by the Etruscans. It didn't disappoint. The entry charges were very reasonable, and the little museum helpful in setting the scene; available explanations also in English. Then we were free to wander round the site. It...More

A very pleasant stroll down the hill to the Etruscan tombs, through a path lined with waving cherry trees and blooming poppies. I found the site fascinating and lovely for a morning's contemplation. The tombs are in various states of disrepair, many covered with sod,...More

This is a cheap, quick and interesting walk around a 1500 year old necropolis. Little museum at the start explains how it worked. Fascinating to be able to walk the streets and enter family tombs, although they do get repetitive. I've been to several necropoli....More
