Beautiful hike...beautiful reward. Get going early as there could be crowds. If you can wear hiking shoes. We wore tennis shoes and definitely not enough support for the feet and ankles. It's a very rocky hike.
If you have a reasonable level of fitness this is a must see. Hiking shoes are a must as some of the paths are rocky. The hike took us around an hour and 40 minutes and was well worth it. The lake is stunning!! We...More
We did this hike in mid August on a Sunday morning, and it was packed, all the Italians came for a day trip! However that aside, once you get to the lake, the scenery and views are simply amazing and breathtaking.

An amazing and awesome place surrounded by mountains. The color of the water in the lake looks fabulous. It is worth to see it once in your life. It is better to be in the morning to avoid a crowd. More than recommended!
Beautiful scenery on the hike up and when you finally get to the lake it is breathtaking. The colour is surreal. However, I would recommend to get there early to avoid the crowds. It took us around 4 hours including lunch stops and picture stops...More

While trekking on the Alta Via 4 we stayed at Rifugio Vandelli. If somebody would have told me I would experience a lake with an incredible blue color, I would have said "Oh, great, thanks for the info!" and integrate it with my knowledge of...More
We were going to the hike on Sunday :D which turned out as not very good idea - I assume that if we decide for any work day there will be like half number of people there. Really it was hard to find the parking...More

You can get to the trailhead by car, but from there you must hike up by foot and it’s 5 hrs return plus 1 hr to enjoy the lake and Rifugio. Well worth it though. Can’t comment on timing as I have only travelled there in June. Cheers.
