Small but free
Nov 2019
Very small. The collection can be seen in 15 minutes. It’s free and definitely worth a visit if you are in Civitavecchia.

Great local museum chronicling the history of this beautiful port city. Not large but they have some really great artifacts and it is worth a 30 minute detour.

Small but informative

This museum, which has free entry, is small but very informative about the city. The ground floor has well documented artefacts with good English translations. However the upper level, which also houses interesting exhibits, has no information in English for the visitor.

Interesting and free!

Found this museum by chance as we explored Civitaveccia from a cruise ship. Visited with my 11 year old daugher and she was also fascinated by the exhibits and enjoyed writing in the visitors book. It's free and has some lovely pieces.

This is a nice little museum to take a look at if you are in the area. It is small but has local finds and it is free which is an added bonus.

A small museum with artifacts found in the near vicinity. Best of all it is free but you leave a donation.

Very Interesting Low Key Look at history

It's free and you can see history in your face. It's a small place and the people were very nice. You can take pictures. Very quiet.

Charming small free museum
Jun 2018 • Couples
This museum houses objects found in Civitavecchia and nearby, which are well presented and with some described in English as well as Italian. There are the ‘usual’ terracotta jars, statues and votive objects: most moving were a set of gravestones mostly of men who had served in the Roman navy and often erected by their friends, with all the inscriptions translated and explained.
Disabled access is very good, with a wheelchair friendly entrance to the side an a lift to the upper floor.

Beautiful ceramics and large collection of tombs
Dec 2017 • Friends
Palazzo Vitelleschi os beautiful and it holds a gorgeous collection of Etruscan art, from funerary tombs and other objects to an amazing collection of ceramics. Some objects are absolutely unique. A must in a beautiful city.
