We did a wine tasting / dinner event here for what they call in English "Open Cantina" night. The food was actually pretty good and paired with a very large meal. The wine itself was unspectacular.

The Madrevite Winery is at Cimbano, about 20 minutes from the main Castiglione del Lago town and is certainly worth the drive. We were met by Elina who sat us in the courtyard with a small glass of their white wine, while we waited for...More

Nicola's story is a truly authentic one. It is not one of foreign owners, faddish blends or en vogue cultivation choices. He speaks as honestly and compellingly about his vintages and his family's agricultural story as he does about climate change and immigration. His wines...More

In early September we spent a spectacular week in Umbria based out of a villa overlooking the city of Castiglione del Lago. Not surprisingly, our group of nine travelers/friends was replete with wine lovers interested in sampling some of Umbria's finest grape products. Upon the...More

We've heard a lot about this cantina so we decided to give it a try. We were very pleased with the vino sfuso, full bodied and very drinkable. We will definitely be visiting this cantina again.

Really enjoyed the tour by Nicola, hearing about it's history and how it has developed within his family. Really hospitable, lovely food provided. Nice to meet a few of the family including Nicola's mum, thank you for the food! Lovely dog too! Highly recommended!

Visited on a late Friday afternoon and found the winery to be small, but bustling. Some nice drinkable inexpensive offerings and for us, reasonable shipping. We were surprised by the Rose', of which we actually bought 2 bottles. Waiting to open the Glanio, Syrah (which...More

Giacamo toured us through the vineyard, apologizing for his limited English but earnestly trying! For lunch, we had a private table in the cellar where he poured very generous glasses of each of the six wines they produce. The mama of the family made each...More
