The fortress is hidden behind the trees and you can't see it from the near-by park with monument to Petrarca. When visiting the cathedral and the Piazza grande, you should visit the fortress as well. You can park on Pietri parcheggio and use the escalators...More

Definitely worth visiting the fortezza medicea offers an insightful view into the city history. The renovations made the place more accessible and created bespoke walking paths. Very nice.

what a beautiful place to view the surrounding countryside, the views are amazing. They are still excavating it but it must of looked formidable in its day. There is a display of modern sculptor inside that is well worth a study, go and visit.
