Wine & Food Experience in the Historic Market of Padua

The Market of Padua is in the centre of the city, in a great building called Palazzo della Ragione, built in 1218. The upper floor, called Il Salone, is a great hall, one of the largest medieval halls of the world (entrance ticket included). On the ground floor of the Salone, the so called “Sotto il Salone”, are hosted various delicatessen shops where you can find all sort of local specialties.
The Mini-Tasting Tours are itinerant menus across the shops of Sotto il Salone. You can choose among many different menus according to your preferences. Tasting menu example: 1 Glass of wine, 1 Tasting of Mountain Cottage Cheese, 1 Sorana-Carpaccio (Young Beef carpaccio) with chunks of Parmesan cheese.

Upon confirmation of booking you will receive the menu for choosing your tasting itinerary. You will then receive the voucher by e-mail. With the voucher you can go to the first shop for the tasting and you will receive the ticket to visit the painted room. Then you can move on to the other shops for other tastings. The tour does not include accompanying guides but is autonomous.
During the tasting tour it'll be the local shopkeepers who will tell and explain you about their dishes and about the typical local food and drinks.

We wanted to visit this museum during our trip to Abano from Montegrotto but found out that it didn't work any more. It was closed in January 2018.

First you have to find it - its website says it is in Montegrotto Terme, but when you get there, it's closed, and on the door there is an address in Abano Terme, which is also not correct. Eventually we found it with the help of the Tourist information office. It is in 2 rather splendid gate-houses at the entrance to a park, staffed by 2 men who seem astonished when you arrive and want to go in. Inside, there are a number of really lovely glass pieces, mainly 20th century, but arranged with a total lack of context, interpretation or sense of aesthetics. You also have to ask to go into the second part of the museum, which is roped off to stop people wandering in. It can't possibly last!
